Personalized fertility treatments

We carefully assess your situation, reviewing any previous investigations and treatments. After this, we collaborate with you to draw up a treatment plan tailored specifically for you.

During this process, we always consider the underlying causes of infertility and the patients`individual preferences, including treatment schedule

Schedule your first appointment

If the start of a desired pregnancy is delayed, it causes worry, fear, and uncertainty. Typically, the decision to seek fertility treatment provides relief and brings hope that the pregnancy may finally ensue.

During the first appointment at the Clinic, the doctor assesses your situation and makes a treatment plan. It’s essential to first identify possible causes for infertility, and then proceed to individualized treatment. Solution may be a lighter treatments, such as ovulation induction or insemination. Sometimes, it is necessary to proceed directly to in vitro fertilization (IVF). You don’t need a referral, and appointments are available with short notice. If you are in a relationship, it is advisable for both partners to attend the first appointment together.

Antenatal care alleviates worries

Every pregnancy is unique, and no concern is too small. Through careful antenatal care and ultrasound monitoring, we ensure safe pregnancy time step by step.

An early pregnancy ultrasound scan can reliably be performed as early as pregnancy week 6-7.

Support and solutions at miscarriage clinic

Our miscarriage clinic offers support and solutions for women and couples who have experienced recurrent miscarriages. Pregnancy loss is a challenging experience. Generally, miscarriages are often perceived in a way that the next time, the pregnancy will surely go better, and there might not be a need for, or it might not be advisable to conduct further investigations.

We think differently. There is often an underlying reason for recurrent miscarriages and it can be treated. All our Fertility Specialists are also well-versed in investigating and treating miscarriages.

Dextra was the first IVF-Clinic in Finland to initiate pre-implantation testing for embryos. Our clinic’s mission from the outset has been to provide high-quality settings for new treatment methods. Good results indicate that we have succeeded well in our work.

Frequently asked questions

What are the differences between public and private clinics?

The most notable difference between private and public clinics is the access to treatment. Private clinics have no waiting lists, and treatments can be scheduled according to the patient´s wishes. Appointment times are also more flexible. In the public healthcare system, you typically have to wait for at least 4 months to get to your first appointment, and the waiting time for in vitro fertilization (IVF) is minimum 6 months. Additionally, there are often so-called “interim cycles” between treatments.

Are treatments similar in public and private healthcare?

In general, treatments are carried out in a very similar manner in both public and private healthcare. However, in private healthcare, there is often a more diverse range of treatment options available, some of which may not be offered by public healthcare, or are very rarely performed, such as preimplantation genetic testing for aneuploidy (PGT-A) or uterine receptivity analysis (ERA/BeReady).

What are the costs of basic investigations and IVF treatment in private healthcare?

The basic investigations, including the first appointment, blood tests, tubal patency test, and sperm analysis, cost approximately 900€ in total. The cost of a complete IVF treatment cycle is around 4,500€, and a frozen embryo transfer cycle approximately 1,500€.

What does Dextra do that others don’t?

Dextra has by far the most extensive experience in preimplantation genetic testing for aneuploidy (PGT-A) in the entire Nordic region. We perform approximately 70% of all PGT-A treatments in Finland. At our miscarriage clinic, we utilize treatment methods and medications that other clinics do not offer.

How experienced are the Doctors at Dextra? Do I have my own dedicated Doctor?

All doctors at Dextra are Specialists in Obstetrics and Gynecology, and each of them has extensive experience in Fertility. Every patient at Dextra has their own dedicated doctor who oversees and plans the treatments. Additionally, each doctor works with another doctor as a team. With this arrangement, we aim to ensure that you encounter one of the familiar doctors as often as possible.

Embryo Diagnostics

In case of recurrent miscarriages or unsuccessful fertility treatments, embryo diagnostics, which involves examining the chromosomes of the embryo, might provide a solution. Our clinic has experienced embryo diagnostics specialists. Approximately 70% of chromosomal embryo analyses (PGT-A) carried out in Finland are performed at our clinic.
